"Knowledge is strength" - and Adam F knows how to throw
elements in the mix to cook twelve fine dishes of jazzadelic jungle. Already
a classic (containing tunes like "Music in my mind" and the well
known d'n'b anthem "Circles"), this album features classy
contributors like Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl (providing soulful
vocals on "The tree knows everything"), MC Conrad (rapping on
"F-Jam") plus fellow junglists Grooverider (remixer on "Dirty
Harry") and Goldie (whose voice sampled from an answering machine
appears in the intro of "Mother Earth"). The rhythms are
catchy and the tracks are danceable, yet all of them are melodic and
suitable for listening too. Shortly after Miles Davis died, his record label
released a record that was a mixture between sampled rhythms, rap and jazz.
Who knows. Maybe if Davis had lived for a while more in this decade, he would
have been happily playing trumpet in one of Adam's soundscapes.
