Corrosion Of Conformity do a viciously good job of marrying gargantuan-sized
guitar riffs with the sort of monster-heavy rock grooves that were
instrumental in making Black Sabbath such a timeless favorite. Such displays
of all-out metal carnage can be heard on tracks like 'Albatross', 'Shake
Like You' and 'Heaven's Not Overflowing'. But the band isn't all about rage
and aggression- it also has a gentler, melodic side as seen on offerings
like the instrumental 'Without Wings' and the melancholic 'Shelter'. For
those previously unfamiliar with COC, this is undoubtedly their most
accessible effort to date. Despite sounding tedious in several places, the
album is definitely worth checking out- if only for the killer riffs.
