Review by Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck 4 stars out of 4
The classic fantasy tale "The Lord of The Rings" has been gaining
popularity with new generations of admirers since the book was written
in 1948. I find it hard to believe it has been that many years since
the book was completed by the author J.R.R. Tolkien. With the recent
release of the film the story has gained more momentum and popularity
worldwide. Every great movie needs a soundtrack, and this movie has
a fitting musical backdrop.
The beauty and majesty of an orchestra, conducted by Ralph Ferraro,
directed by Ralph Bakshi, and produced by Saul Zaentz, is brought
to life through the eyes of the film. It's not hard to imagine what
kind of scene is being portrayed in the movie while listening to this
moving and emotionally charged soundtrack. All those who may have
enjoyed the film may not appreciate this soundtrack, as there are
many younger people amongst the followers of the trilogy. This is
not to say that there is not a younger generation that enjoys classical
music, I would tend to think that a large majority of young adults
and children would appreciate rock and rap more. All of the variables
aside, this is a wonderful soundtrack album with an equally entertaining
film that goes hand in hand with the music.
