The Clash are a great band. One of the greatest of all time. There's
no disputing that. However, with Sandanista!, they tend to swerve from
their usual tightly nit album, to a rather sprawling unfocused album.
There are still some great spots in it, though. It opens very well,
"The Magnificent Seven" is a great opener. "Career Opportunities," which
is about a serious subject, sounds hilarious with the cildren singing it.
I'm not saying that the songs are bad, it's just that it's a lot to
swallow. "Charlie Don't Surf" is great, there are a lot of good songs,
it just would have been better if instead of releasing one album with
thirty six songs, they'd released three albums with twelve songs.
