Carcass's final album is so drastically different from all their previous
albums that you sometimes wonder if it's the same band. This is the sort of
catchy death metal that even radio could embrace; except for the fact that
vocalist Jeff Walker still has that demonic vocal growl that could cause
terror seizures among easy listeners. Although long-time fans will be
rendered comatose after hearing the new Carcass sound, that doesn't mean
that it's bad. It's just different. Try imagining traditional rock and roll/
heavy metal riffing given the death metal vocal treatment. As I said, it's
very catchy and guaranteed to get you grooving. If anything, new song titles
like 'Keep On Rotting In The Free World' and 'Generation Hexed' show that
the band had a sense of humor after all.
