Review by Ken 4 Stars out of 4
This review of the Mercy figure gives me a chance to hype one
of the best new toy companies emerging on the scene today - RENDITION. These
guys have some of the most terrific looking figures I've seen this whole
year. And the fact that most of the toys are based on hyper-attractive,
mega-busty warrior chicks from comic-books doesn't hurt either. Mercy, the
creation of fan-favorite Bill Maus is a cyber-angel that first appeared in
the pages of Avatar Press's Nira X comic. The action figure is fantastic,
with the best leg articulation I've seen outside of a real human being.
Check this; Mercy has articulation at her hips, thighs, knees and ankles!
Just THINK of all the thrilling fantasy scenarios you can bring to life with
just her legs alone. Yeah. Besides that, she's also articulated at her neck,
arms and wrists. The name 'Mercy' is probably just a gimmick to make people
think she's a real sweetheart like Barbie or something. Actually, Mercy is
as violent and bloodthirsty as they come. Her weapons include a huge blade
and another sharp object called a 'crypter'; both of which promise that
anything BUT sympathy will be dispensed to punk-ass creeps stupid enough to
want to mess with her. Even guys who might just want to chat her up had
better watch their step. There's also these large gigantic wings that can be
attached on her back to complete her majestic, angelic presence. Have to say
that the sculptors did a very good job in capturing Mercy's facial likeness.
They also did a bang-up job on her chest too; as you will no doubt notice.
I want to give this figure a full-scale 5 rating so bad; but I
can't because it's got this one- ARRRGGHH!!!!- unforgivable problem- it just
can't stand!! Especially since the wings were made to be so frigging huge
and heavy; that the minute you snap them on, Mercy goes down faster than a
house of UNO cards. It's mind-numbingly frustrating that the only way you
can really stand the figure is by 'leaning' it against something. Sucks, but
that's the way it's got to be done. Besides that, the figure is totally fun.
4.5 out of 5 stars without question. The packaging card features exclusive
artwork by Bill Maus himself; which I guess only serves to boost the
figure's collectability. Also, the official word from RENDITION is that only
20,000 of these figures have been produced, so you better hurry and get one
before your best friend beats you to it. Then you'll just have to kill him.
