Norman Bates; the schizophrenic, cross-dressing lunatic who
murdered his own mother and then dressed up like her to do his killings is
now an action figure! Imagine that. Something new for you to play with while
in the shower. Actually, the first thing that strikes you about the toy is
how it looks EXACTLY like the late Anthony Perkins; who played Norman for 4
installments of the PSYCHO franchise (out of which only the first 2 movies
were absolute classics; but that's besides the point) But then again,
McFarlane Toys is no stranger when it comes to injecting hyper-realism into
its movie-related action figures. Just look at the X-Files and Austin Powers
series.
Norman here is wearing his mother's blue-dotted dress and
comes equipped with a wig and his favourite stabbing knife. There is
articulation at the waist, shoulders, neck, wrists, ankles and right bicep.
Forget the legs, though. What can I say? McFarlane Toys did another bang-up
job with this figure. But there's one little detail in which they screwed
up- while the card states that this version of Norman Bates is from the
first PSYCHO movie (the original Alfred Hitchcock b/w classic); the movie
poster on the toy's marquee stand is that of PSYCHO 2 instead. Ah, hell.
You'll probably be so grateful that you managed to get your hands on this
that you won't even give a damn about a glitch like that.
