Only in America can you get away with making a game that is nothing but crashing into other
cars. Only in America is getting points for chain-reaction crashes considered exciting.
If you like this kind of thing, go for it, but don't look for a lot of depth in Destruction Derby
Raw. Controls are a mixed bag. Turning is difficult, but the crashing physics are more forgiving
than in previous Derby games.
Graphically, the cars are pretty ugly, and the engine sound effects seem like they were taken
from vacuum cleaners.
The multi-player battle games are fine, but the best mode is the skyscraper battle mode. Here,
you try to run other cars off the edge of the building. When you happen to fall off yourself, you
don't get to see your demise. For a game like this, that kind of omission is just plain negligent.
