Midway releases yet another so-called classic compilation with Joust/Defender.
Defender is for the birds. Imagine Moon Patrol's great great great grandfather and you
get the idea. Joust is the real draw here. A game like this is perfect for portable
gaming. The two-player action is some of the best ever. Fun, fun, fun. Don't you love
bopping your enemy with your bird butt? Vicious and delicious! The sound effects are
simple but very appealing. I'm glad Midway didn't update them needlessly. Both
games allow you to alter the number of starting lives, bonus threshold, and difficulty
level. For Joust, we put the difficulty on zero, making it a breeze to get to the top of the
screen quickly. Less frantic flapping is required. With 99 lives and bonuses at every
1,000 points, you'll get farther into the game than ever before. Can you make it to
Wave 99?
