Every year there is one odd title that receives far too much glory from the press. In 1997, it was
Final Fantasy VII. In 1998, it was MediEvil. In 1999, it was Syphon Filter.
In 2000, both MediEvil and Syphon Filter are granted sequels which don't exactly catch fire this
time around. MediEvil II is a mess of skittish controls, lazy cameras, and graphic textures that
feel as old as the game's bone-ified (not bona fide) hero.
The voice talent is irritating, and quite frankly, I am getting sick of games with enemy
decapitation after enemy decapitation. The game is full of tired game play elements (kill all
enemies to open a door, play as another characters whose size determines what areas are
accessible) that fail to capture much interest. The cinemas aren't bad, and the music is fitting,
but nothing is outstanding. Young players will enjoy the character, though.
