Pure Ride has fairly good graphics that are comparable to Cool Boarders 4. The level designs
are nice, too, as there are plenty of times when you dive down to the next lowest section of the
course, giving you a true feeling of going downhill. Most snowboarding tracks feel more like a
race track circuit than a downhill rush.
Another plus is the responsive controls. Turning is easy in this game. You don't have to brake
to make sharp turns. Then again, this isn't a problem in most snowboarding games anyway.
The half-pipe mode is poorly done, however. The pipes are too wide, and the game is overly
generous in how it allows you land in the middle of a pipe curve. The laws of physics are not
obeyed in this mode.
Overall, Pure Ride is pretty good for the PlayStation, but the game play and visuals do not offer
anything beyond titles on superior systems. The levels are a bit short, too, so I'd hold out for a
more compelling package.
