Review by Tom Allen 3 Stars out of 4 (Review of Dreamcast version)
Sega Rally 2 has three basic game play modes. The first is arcade. The second is time
attack. The third mode, 10 year championship, offers better-feeling and better-looking
courses. Of course, this is probably my imagination, but that's how I felt.
If you get first place in any one year in the 10 year mode, a new car becomes available
for you to control. Cars are customizable at any time, from steering to brakes to tires
and more. Best of all, you don't have to mess with earning money to buy these parts.
You basically just earn them.
The two-player battle will also be of interest to hard-core racers. Sega Rally 2 is the
best racer on the Dreamcast, but it doesn't match the game play or even the graphical
appeal of Electronic Arts' far superior Beetle Adventure Racing.
Other information:
19 different car types
16 courses
