Not since Final Fantasy 7 have we been so unthrilled with a critically and publicly well-
received game. Silent Hill is no Resident Evil 2. The voice acting is pathetically stilted
and hokey. We didn't mind the acting in Resident Evil 2 when we first played it, but
recently we went back to our tapes and discovered that the acting was almost as bad as
Silent Hill's. Go figure.
Silent Hill's main drawbacks are the difficult control and hideous graphics. If only they
looked as good as the full-motion video sequences. Check out those faces! It's
incredible!
We also have to comment on a cool camera angle early in the game. When you search
for your lost daughter in the alleys, the wobbly camera and dark shadows create an
amazing sense of fear and anticipation for the unknown. Unfortunately, the entire game
is not as well "directed."
If you're desperate for a horror game, pick up Silent Hill. Otherwise, wait for Capcom's
N64 version of Resident Evil 2, as well as PlayStation titles Resident Evil Nemesis and
Dino Crisis.
