In this film, Dr. Nathan Conrad's (Michael Douglas) daughter is kidnapped
from his New York apartment. The kidnapper's demands are less than
cliché -- Dr. Conrad must extract a 6-digit code from the head of one
of his newest patients, a troubled teen played extremely well by Brittany
Murphy (from the hit 'Clueless'). The catch -- it must be done by the
end of that very day, whilst keeping his wife, played well by Famke
Janssen ('Goldeneye'), from going insane with worry.
So, Dr. Conrad immediately goes to work. What ensues is a race full of
twists and turns which are surprisingly effective at maintaining our full
attention. The finale is the grandest scene, which will leave you on the
edge of your seat.
Overall, this film is certainly worthy of viewing. All of the stars work
well together, complementing each others' talents. The film is rated
'R' and is probably not suitable for younger children, due to not only
violence and language, but also the plot itself, which is likely to
confuse them.
