Based on horror supremo Clive Barker's tale "THE HELLBOUND HEART" and directed by the writer himself; this rather innovative horror flick revolves around a mystical box that opens doorways into terrifying underworlds where grotesque demons known as Cenobites reside. These sadistic creatures want nothing more than to drag unwitting humans down into their dark paradise and introduce them to the perverse joys of pleasure and pain; in various horrifying ways. Good story, realistic gore and okay special effects make this movie a must-see for fans of the genre. The HELLRAISER series is especially notable for introducing Pinhead; one of the most refreshing and blood-chilling characters to seen in horror movies today.
