Even if viewed as your basic horror film without the expectation of originality the film is still below par. It's watchable of course, Craven is directing and the cast is still fun to watch. There are a few scenes that didn't do much for me but which made the woman sitting beside me in the theatre jump in her seat. There is one excellent scene with a thrown knife that was very nearly worth the price of admission for me. A couple of cameos were amusing, too. But the final revelation of the killer feels weak, not only was it terribly contrived but instead of using a good script to keep you from guessing who the killer was they seemed to have opted for simply keeping the character off-screen as much as possible until the end.
