This could have easily been either patronizing and mean-spirited or on the other side overly official (it's produced by Paramount) or touchy-feely. Instead it manages to take a non-judgemental look at the whole spectrum of trek fandom, without avoiding potentially embarassing interviews but also without turning them into a freak show of 'oh, look how weird'.

Good points are raised, the tone is good natured and the subject fascinating. Various cast members also discuss their relationship with fandom.
